Facility Maintenance Guide: Practical Tips for Daily Anti-Static Floor Care

Sep 3rd,2026 71 Views

As data centers, cleanrooms and precision testing laboratories reach longer service periods, post-installation maintenance of anti-static raised flooring has become a key focus of facility operations. Many common issues — including degraded ESD performance, warped panels, rusted pedestals and surface wear — are often caused not by product defects, but by improper daily use and maintenance. Regular, standardized upkeep helps preserve stable static-dissipative performance, extends the overall service life of the raised floor system, and reduces long-term replacement costs.

Daily Cleaning

Strong corrosive cleaners and large amounts of water must never be used to wash the floor surface directly. Water seeping into panel gaps can cause panel deformation and rust on understructure pedestals. It is recommended to use an anti-static dust mop or a slightly damp cloth to remove dust. For stubborn stains, use a diluted neutral cleaner and wipe away residual moisture promptly. Steel wool pads and sharp scraping tools are strictly prohibited, as they can damage the anti-static wear layer; once the surface layer is compromised, ESD performance will be directly affected.

Heavy Object Handling and On-Site Use

When moving server cabinets or equipment inside the room, do not drag them directly across the floor. Dragging easily scratches the surface and can shift panels or loosen pedestals. Protective pads should be placed under equipment to distribute weight and avoid concentrated loads exceeding the floor's load-bearing rating. Personnel should avoid walking on panels with high heels or sharp-soled shoes to minimize surface abrasion.

Regular Inspection and Performance Testing

Maintenance staff should periodically check for loose or buckled panels, as well as rust or loose screws on pedestals and stringers. Any rattling or instability should be leveled and reinforced promptly. In addition to visual inspection, surface resistance testing should be conducted regularly to confirm that ESD indicators remain within project design specifications. When panels need to be lifted for cable maintenance underneath, use a dedicated suction lifter — never pry panels forcibly, as this can chip or crack panel edges.

Storage and Environmental Control

Maintain reasonable temperature and humidity levels inside the room. Excessive humidity accelerates corrosion of metal components, while overly dry air can also affect the performance of certain panel materials. Spare panels should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated area with moisture and dust protection.

Industry maintenance experts note that anti-static raised flooring is a functional flooring material — project delivery is not the end of the story. Scientific maintenance is the key to ensuring long-term, stable static protection. By following proper cleaning, protection and inspection routines, facilities can maintain a safe and stable operating environment for data centers and laboratories.
